Summary

Tools for YouTube™ ("the Extension") is a browser extension that customizes the YouTube website. This policy describes what information the Extension handles and how.

The Extension does not collect, sell, or share personal data with the developer or third parties. All user preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage APIs.

Information the Extension stores locally

When you change settings, the Extension may store the following on your device only:

• Extension preferences (playback speed, quality, theme, toggles, equalizer bands, etc.)
• Optional backup JSON that you export manually (stays on your device unless you copy it elsewhere)
• Installation/update timestamps used for internal migration logic
• Your chosen display language code

This data never leaves your device unless you export it (backup feature) or sync it through Chrome's own profile sync (controlled by Google, not by us).

Information the Extension does not collect

The Extension does not:

• Collect names, email addresses, or account identifiers
• Log browsing history outside youtube.com
• Send analytics or telemetry to developer servers
• Use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs
• Access YouTube account credentials

Host access

The Extension runs only on https://www.youtube.com/* (and related embed/live chat pages matched in the manifest) to modify the YouTube interface and player according to your settings. It does not run on unrelated websites.

Permissions explained

• storage - Save your preferences locally
• sidePanel - Show optional quick controls on YouTube tabs
• Host: *://www.youtube.com/* - Apply enhancements on YouTube pages only

Data retention and deletion

• Uninstalling the Extension removes locally stored extension data from your browser.
• You can reset all settings from the Options page → General → Reset all settings.

Children

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy when the Extension changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest version.
