What is Web Gram?

Web Gram (listed as Web Client - Web Gram) is a Chrome extension that helps you browse Instagram with a mobile layout in the browser - typically in Chrome's side panel - so your feed can stay open beside other tabs. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.

Single purpose

This Extension provides a single, focused purpose: browse Instagram with a mobile layout in-browser.

Web Gram has no analytics, no trackers, and no developer-operated servers of its own. It does not collect personal browsing data for sale or advertising.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Web Gram ("the Extension") handles information.

You sign in directly on instagram.com. Your Instagram password never passes through the Extension. The Extension only keeps a local layout preference on your device.

Data stored on your device

When you use the Extension, chrome.storage.local may keep:

• Your layout preference (for example, side panel vs full-page framed view)
• Other local UI preferences required for that layout choice

This data stays on your device. Files you save with the downloads permission go to your normal downloads folder under your control.

Information the Extension does not collect

The Extension does not:

• Collect analytics or telemetry for developer dashboards
• Phone home to developer-operated servers (there is nowhere for that data to go)
• Sell or broker personal data
• Use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs for this product purpose
• Request host access beyond Instagram pages needed to load the feed

Permissions explained

• storage - Save layout preference locally
• tabs - Open Instagram side panel / related tab actions
• sidePanel - Show Instagram beside other tabs
• downloads - Save photos and videos you choose to your downloads folder
• declarativeNetRequest - Enable the mobile Instagram view via header rules
• Host access (Instagram only) - Load Instagram.com content so the feed can render in the panel or framed view

Host access

Host permission is limited to Instagram. The Extension needs this access to load Instagram.com content in the side panel or framed client view.

The Extension does not claim broad access to unrelated websites for this single purpose.

Data sharing and sale

We confirm the following, as required by the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies:

• We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, except in the limited situations permitted by applicable law.
• We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the operation or improvement of the Extension's core Instagram browsing functionality.
• We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Remote code

The Extension does not use remote code. All executable code is included in the Extension package and is not loaded from external sources at runtime.

Data retention and deletion

• Local settings remain on your device until you change them, clear extension data, or uninstall the Extension.
• Downloaded media you save outside the browser are under your control.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Trademark notice

Instagram is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc. Web Gram mentions Instagram only because that is the site this Extension works with. Web Gram is not made, endorsed, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
