What is Stay Focused: Site Blocker?

Stay Focused: Site Blocker (also referred to as LockYt in the product UI) is a Chrome extension that helps you use YouTube with fewer distractions. It can hide Shorts, recommendations, comments, live chat, playlists, search suggestions, and autoplay so you can focus on the video you came to watch.

Single purpose

This Extension provides a single, focused purpose: helping users stay focused on YouTube by blocking distracting page elements.

The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit personal data beyond what is required for this core functionality on your device.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Stay Focused: Site Blocker ("the Extension") handles information.

The Extension does not collect personal data, does not track viewing history, and does not send data to external servers. Settings are stored locally or synced with Chrome Sync when you are signed into Chrome.

Data stored on your device

When you use the Extension, the following may be stored locally in chrome.storage (and optionally synced via Chrome Sync):

• On/off state for each distraction block (Shorts, home feed, sidebar recommendations, comments, live chat, playlists, search suggestions, autoplay)
• Focus Mode preference
• Take a Break timer status and remaining time
• Local statistics such as time saved and number of blocked elements
• Other UI preferences required for the popup and help pages

This data stays on your device or in your Chrome Sync account. It is not uploaded to developer-operated servers.

Information the Extension does not collect

The Extension does not:

• Collect names, email addresses, or account identifiers for analytics
• Track or upload your YouTube viewing history
• Send telemetry to external servers
• Use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs
• Read or modify website content outside www.youtube.com for this product purpose

Permissions explained

• storage - Save lock toggles, Focus Mode state, Take a Break timer status, and local statistics between sessions, and sync settings across devices when Chrome Sync is enabled
• activeTab - Access the active YouTube tab so blocks can be applied when you use the Extension
• scripting - Inject the content script into YouTube tabs that are already open after install or update, so blocks work without requiring a manual reload
• alarms - Run the Take a Break timer and update the badge countdown so blocks are restored automatically when the timer ends
• tabs - Detect whether the active tab is YouTube, open YouTube when needed, and open the help page or Chrome Web Store listing when you choose those actions
• Host access (*://www.youtube.com/*) - Run the content script on YouTube so distracting elements can be hidden. Access is limited to the YouTube domain

Host access

Host permission is limited to *://www.youtube.com/*. The Extension needs this access to block page elements via its content script.

The Extension does not request broad access to other websites for this product.

Data sharing and sale

We confirm the following, as required by the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies:

• We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, except in the limited situations permitted by applicable law.
• We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the operation or improvement of the Extension's core focus and blocking functionality.
• We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Remote code

The Extension does not use remote code. All executable code is included in the Extension package and is not loaded from external sources at runtime.

Data retention and deletion

• Settings and statistics remain on your device (or in Chrome Sync) until you change them, clear extension data, or uninstall the Extension.
• You can reset settings from the Extension UI. Uninstalling removes locally stored extension data from your browser.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
