What the Extension does

Block Ads for Social Network ("the Extension") blocks sponsored ads and suggested content on Facebook pages in Google Chrome. Settings and a blocked-ads counter are stored locally so the Extension can work as intended.

The sole purpose of this Extension is to block ads and suggested content in the Facebook feed (sponsored ads and suggested pages/posts), so users see less advertising while browsing Facebook in Chrome.

The Extension does not track activity outside Facebook, does not modify other websites, and does not show third-party ads.

Single purpose

This Extension provides a single, focused purpose: block ads and suggested content in the Facebook feed in Chrome.

Data we process

The Extension may store the following information locally in your browser (chrome.storage):

• Extension settings (for example, blocker on/off, block sponsored ads, block suggested pages)
• Total number of ads blocked (blockedAdsTotal)
• Whether the active tab is on facebook.com (checked only in the popup UI; not stored as browsing history)

The Extension does not collect your Facebook login, messages, posts, personal profile data, contacts, payment information, or browsing history outside Facebook.

How data is used

Local settings and the blocked-ads counter are used only to:

• Apply your blocking preferences on Facebook
• Show the counter and status in the popup
• Update the toolbar badge with the per-tab blocked count

On uninstall, the Extension may open a feedback/uninstall page and append only the anonymized blocked-ads counter as a URL parameter (blockedCount). No personal identifiers are included.

Permissions explained

• storage - Store blocking settings and the blocked-ads counter locally in the browser so the Extension can function
• tabs - Detect whether the active tab is Facebook so the popup can show the correct status and button. Tab contents are not collected or shared
• Host permission / content scripts (https://*.facebook.com/*) - Run a content script only on Facebook to hide sponsored and suggested posts. Without this, the core feature cannot work

Host access

Content scripts run only on https://*.facebook.com/* to detect and hide ads and suggested posts in the page DOM.

Data sharing and sale

We confirm the following, as required by the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies:

• We do not sell user data
• We do not transfer user data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated analytics
• We do not use third-party trackers or analytics SDKs inside the Extension
• We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, outside of the approved use cases
• We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to a user's actionable expectations related to the functionality of the product
• We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes

Remote code

The Extension does not use remote code. All code runs locally from the Extension package (Manifest V3, script-src 'self'). The Extension does not download or execute remote JavaScript.

Data retention and control

Settings and the counter remain in your browser storage until you clear extension data or uninstall the Extension. You can reset settings by clearing Chrome extension storage or uninstalling.

Children's privacy

The Extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Extension changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
